We’ve taken the moniker for our quarterly newsletter, The Wapsipinicon, from the Potawatomi name for the creek that flows into Tiskilwa from numerous springs in the hills to the west, eventually joining Big Bureau Creek east of town.

Here comes the Wapsi, from the hills to the west
Although European settlers began calling the stream Rocky Run, we like the ring and appropriateness of its first name, as our newsletter flows in many channels throughout the village on its way to members all over the U.S. by electronic or postal mail.

And there it goes, down into the village
